Copenhagen Brunch: A Plate of Art

Brunch is something of an institution in Denmark and enjoying one should definitely be part of a weekend visit to Copenhagen. There are your standard buffet style options, but the plates of art that can be found at various eateries in town are the ones that set brunch in Copenhagen apart from the rest. Instead of constantly getting up to get your next dish, you are served one plate with a bite-sized selection of goodies. Eggs, salmon, pastries, smoothies, fruit and more make a colorful and yummy start of the day. As a late riser I am a huge fan of brunch and have spent several weekends sampling the various spreads on offer. Here are some of my favorites…

Restaurant Zeleste
Located off Nyhavn, this a perfect spot to combine with a canal boat ride when the sun is out. It has a very cute courtyard to enjoy with good weather.  The plate comes with french toast, scrambled eggs, fruit, chocolate muffin, a mini smoothie and more.

Dag H

Another spot for good weather, Dag H is located at the Osterbro end of the lakes, with a nice terrace and people watching.  The 1A and 15 buses stop right out front.

Winner of AOK’s best brunch 2011, this is a small place with delicious pancakes. Always busy so be prepared to wait.
